PAV offers English literacy classes for English-speaking children being brought up in a bilingual environment.
For many of the children it is an opportunity to build on English learnt in PAV classes and within the home.
For others returning from an English-speaking country, the classes allow them to maintain their fluency.
The classes are small with a maximum of 10 pupils per teacher. The teachers are all native English speakers. They are qualified and have professional experience in creating a friendly but also studious environment. When necessary, our teachers are also supported by teaching and/or reading assistants to ensure that every child has the best opportunity to develop their English.
Places are allocated on a first come first served basis to children with an appropriate level of English for their age. Children will be invited for an informal evaluation followed by a brief trial period.
Maternelle
Children learn early literacy skills in English following the phonetic system.
Library books and first-step reading books are brought home each week.
Stories, activities and songs in English form an integral part of the lesson.

Primaire
Development of oral and written English is encouraged equally.
Children progress through English skills workbooks corresponding to their level of English. Those learning to read have one-to-one reading sessions using graded reading books. Older children study novels by well-known authors.

Collège
As in Primaire, development of oral and written English is encouraged equally. Students progress through an English vocabulary workbook corresponding to their level of English and specific novels are studied and discussed in class.
Giving one’s personal opinion on topics is encouraged.
